About Peter and Donna Thomas
Peter and Donna Thomas are book artists: papermakers, letterpress printers, hand bookbinders and visual artists. They have created of over 150 fine press editions and artist books including:
- Half Dome: A Climbing History
- Beauty
- Spring Wildflowers ABC
- In the San Joaquin Valley
- Song of Creation

Together they enjoy camping, hiking and cross country skiing. Both of them have hiked the John Muir Trail (which runs from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney, about 211 miles) several times.
From 1975-1990 they worked at California's Renaissance Pleasure Faire and the Great Dickens Christmas Fair, where in period costumes and a setting to recreate another time, they sold their books and gave public demonstrations of the historic craft of hand papermaking.
They have written a bookbinding textbook titled "More Making Books By Hand" (Rockport/Quarry Books). They have taught book arts classes across the country and often give public lectures on the history and future of the book as art. Their work and a full CV can be found on their website.

October 2011
